SUMMARY:Utrecht Summer 2017: Joint Cosmology & Holography
DESCRIPTION:Utrecht on Friday\, June 2\, 2017 \nLocation: Atlas Lecture Hall\, Koningsberger Building\, Utrecht Science Park \nSchedule \n13:30 – 14:00 Tea & Coffee \n14:00 – 15:00 Talk by Brando Bellazzini (IPhT CEA Saclay) \nTitle: Softness\, amplitudes’ positivity\, and EFT for spinning particles. \nAbstract: Not every EFT admits a UV completion which is consistent with S-matrix theory. I will review some of the constraints that come from analyticity\, crossing symmetry and unitarity of the underlying UV theory\, with emphasis on the case of EFT that contains spinning particles in the IR\, including massless spin-1/2 fermions and the spin-2 graviton. \n15:00 – 15:30 Coffee Break \n15:30 – 16:30 Talk by Talk by Dionysos Anninos (IAS Princeton) \nTitle: Comments on Static de Sitter Holography \nAbstract: We explore aspects of holography in the static patch of a dS geometry. We start by drawing general lessons from the better-understood cases. An emphasis is placed on the case where the holographic dual is (0+1)-dimensional\, i.e. quantum mechanical as opposed to field theoretic. To sharpen the discussion\, we introduce a simple two-dimensional gravity model with solutions that interpolating from an AdS_2 asymptotic region to the static dS region. This allows for an interpretation of the dS_2 region in terms of the infrared physics of the putative AdS_2 dual theory. Differences between a cosmological and black hole horizon are discussed. \n16:30 – 18:00 Borrel with snacks and drinks (Buys Ballot Gebouw\, 7th floor)
