SUMMARY:Amsterdam Summer 2016
DESCRIPTION:Schedule \n12:30-13:30 Program lunch [only for FOM cosmology program leaders to schedule next year/workshops/NWA update/Core+ update] in room C4.250 \n14:00-15:00 Talk by Arthur Hebecker (University of Heidelberg) in room D1.116 \nTitle: Large Field Inflation\, the Weak Gravity Conjecture and Gravitational Instantons \nAbstract: The recent theoretical interest in large-field inflation is related in part to potential future observations\, e.g. through primordial gravity waves\, and in part to the structural simplicity of the corresponding models. I will concetrate on the possible fundamental obstructions to realising such inflationary scenarios\, both in string theory and in quantum gravity in general. The focus will in particular be on the recent scientific debate in the context of the Weak Gravity Conjecture and Gravitational Instantons\, which will both be explained in simple terms. \n15:30-16:30 Talk by Guido D’Amico (CERN) in room D1.116 \nTitle: Consistency and predictivity of the EFT of LSS \nAbstract: I discuss the Effective Field Theory of Large Scale Structure prescription to one loop\, with emphasis on the robustness of the EFT parameters and the resulting regime of validity when compared to high-resolution simulations. In particular\, I will outline the consistency between propagator and power spectrum\, fit the redshift dependence of the EFT parameters and discuss the bispectrum. \n16:30 Drinks in ‘Academisch Kwartier’
